Announcing Artist Wesley Kimler To Take On Our Creators vs Agencies Panel

From the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to challenging the artworld hierarchy, we are super excited to have Wesley on our Creative Vs Agencies of the Future panel for showcase #1 held July 13th  7:45 pm – 8:35 pm, along with the Chief Creative Officer of McDonald’s global ad agency, Walton Isaacson’s Account Supervisor, and more. At Glapppitnova there is a mixture of storytelling, panels, discussions, performances, and more spanning multiple rooms in a hidden warehouse. Get your tickets below. 

Wesley Kimler is a painter, artist, single parent and known for his colossal paintings, up to 15 feet high and 27 feet wide. He has given outspoken interviews in which he champions painting, attacks what he views as the Neo-Conceptual academy and the artworld hierarchy, advocating independence and self-reliance on the part of creators. He is also known in the contemporary Chicago artworld for his work rallying for a new art scene. 

Kimler’s art has been acquired by many institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Berkeley Art Museum in Berkeley, California, the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida, the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and in Chicago’s Block Museum, Smart Museum, Aon Tower and Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as in numerous private collections.

JEARLD GARY

Showcase #2, Chicago Nightlife and Entertainment Panelist, July 14th 

Jerald Gary is Chairman of the Chicago Regal Foundation and a proud product of 79th Street on Chicago’s South Side. Prior to purchasing the Avalon Regal Theater at age 29, he created a private equity fund to separately invest in real estate, technology, and businesses in the surrounding community. Before that, Jerald held various roles in enterprise technology management at Chicago-based Electronic Knowledge Interchange and at Killerspin, where he focused on software-enabled optimization of business processes.

 

Alex Niemczewski

Alex Niemczewski is CEO and co-founder of BallotReady, an award-winning nonpartisan online voter guide to every race and referendum on the ballot. Previously she founded a research consulting firm and taught coding at the Booth School of Business and The Starter League. She has a background in workforce development and is an alum of The University of Chicago. She was recognized in Crain’s Chicago Business “20 in their 20’s” list.

 

HAVEN ALLEN

Executive Director, MHub

Showcase#1, Storyteller, July 13th

Haven Allen, the executive director, and co-founder is an entrepreneur and technology strategist who most recently concentrated on growing the manufacturing industry and strengthening its community throughout Chicagoland. As an economic development strategist at World Business Chicago, he directed the Advisory Council for Chicagoland Manufacturing through which he established and led the implementation of an economic development agenda to support growth and job creation in the manufacturing sector. During his graduate education, Haven served as a Mayoral Fellow at the City of Chicago. As a fellow he provided research and analysis on policy initiatives dealing with infrastructure, electricity markets, and municipal marketing. In order to give back to his country, Haven joined the Peace Corps and served as a community economic development volunteer in Panama where he worked to strengthen the management and leadership capacities of rural cooperatives and local organizations in order to increase economic opportunities. In addition, Haven was a small business owner in the production and publishing industry. Haven has a Master of Public Policy and a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
