We are excited to have Beckie Stocchetti, Director of Engagement for Kartemquin Films on our “Protesting and Activism in The Informational Age” forum. This forum will be held at Google River North. She will be contributing on the ethics of activism, particularly in media and digital media.
Beckie is responsible for managing many of the educational programs and outreach initiatives of the organization including Diverse Voices in Docs, KTQ Labs, the KTQ Internship program, and classroom, media policy, and production outreach initiatives. She works to build successful strategies for providing producers with critical advice and support around audience engagement, social impact, and fundraising throughout the production and distribution process.
Prior to joining Kartemquin in 2014, Beckie worked as the Program Director of Chicago Filmmakers, a 40 year old non-profit film services organization in Andersonville. Protesting and Activism In The Informational Age Blurb:
Let’s ask a few questions. Remember that KONY campaign? What about those ALS ice bucket challenges? What about Ferguson, or even the revolt in Egypt? What about digital media with a message? How effective is protesting for change, and when does activism ever cross the line? This panel will be located at Google Chicago in River North.
