Announcing Education Leader Isabella Martinez On DC Committee
Isabella Martinez is no stranger to the Glappitnova community and we’ve been trying to get the DC community involved over the last two years. We are super excited to have Isabella on the global committee focusing on the DC market.
There are around 7.4 billion people in the world and although representing different cultures, countries, tongues, and frames of mind, we all face similar issues. However, lack of exposure, connectivity, and understanding of cultural competencies are often culprits to an increasingly divided world.
A former auditor at Ernst and Young Chicago, Isabella is no stranger to the complexities of working in global business environments and the challenges this poses to many individuals without exposure to cross-cultural dialogue, empathy for global issues, and experience leading diverse teams. Using her global work experiences to understand the cultural competency skills gap, Isabella was motivated to empower diverse, underrepresented youth to assume new leadership paradigms– and co-founding NetWings Corp became the avenue to accomplish this.
NetWings Corp is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities of exposure for youths to defy barriers of geography, language, culture, and experience. By traveling to prestigious global conferences, building global professional networks, and publishing their learnings via Case Studies, NetWings Delegates are revolutionizing the way youths empathize with global issues, build social capital, and reciprocate their global learning to spur local impact in their respective communities.
From developing NetWings Case Studies for topics such as the Syrian Refugee Crisis in Germany, the Black Market for the USD in Argentina and the Role of Journalism in a Digital Age in the U.S., Isabella is dedicated to providing personal learning opportunities for her students, in a way that activates their curiosity to find solutions to shared global issues.
Named as Huffington Post’s 2017 40 Under 40 Latinos in Public Policy and a 2018 Aspen Ideas Week Scholar, Isabella is continuing to make strides with her NetWings Delegates and hopes to redefine the way in which youths engage with the world, as impact driven global citizens.
