Announcing Educational Consultant Jillian Carew on The Global Committee
We are super excited to have Jillian Carew on the Glappitnova global committee.
Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Jillian is committed to ensuring all students have access to quality education. She earned a BA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Masters in Teaching from UNLV as a Teach For America corps member, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Eastern Michigan University. She taught grades 3, 9, and 11 before going on to serve as a dean, assistant principal, and eventually principal.
During her time as a school leader, she secured more than a half-million dollars in grant money to personalize learning for her students and dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline by creating a pathway to college for all kids. Her passion for the work can be best summarized by a quote from Marian Wright Edelman: “The question is not whether we can afford to invest in every child; it is whether we can afford not to.” As a Ph.D. candidate in Educational Leadership and Counseling, Jillian is committed to changing the narrative and proving what is possible for Black and Brown kids and in the city of Chicago through the lens of equity for humanity.
After spending more than a decade teaching and leading in schools across the PreK-12 continuum, she became a certified life coach and launched a consulting firm – InnerG Unlmtd, LLC. As an InnerG Curator, she helps people and teams cultivate their InnerGreatness through one-on-one sessions, workshops, and motivational speaking. Her strategy focuses on confidence building, strategic planning, and effective coaching cycles, which empower others to transform their work and ultimately their life. She is a certified life coach whose personal mission is to motivate and inspire others to make positive life-changing decisions.
Jillian loves to collect sneakers and travel in her spare time.
