Nicole Suarez, Emmy Award Winning TV Personality
Along with the support of her family, this ambition is what motivated her to jump start her career by moving to Colombia at the age of eighteen in pursuit of a dream, to stand up to be seen by more than 6 million people by age nineteen, and to land her first television job by age twenty. Her breakthrough in the broadcast industry was through Nuestra Belleza Latina, Univision’s hit reality TV show, where she achieved her standing among the select trio of finalists. After the competition, she returned to Chicago where she had the opportunity to begin working at Univision Chicago as the host of Despierta Chicago, and to obtain her journalism and advertising degree from DePaul University. During her time at Univision, Nicole was Emmy nominated, along with her team, for the “Chevy Heroes” campaign that recognized local leaders for their work within the community.
Harold Green: Poet & Visionary
Green has been featured in many major blogs: FakeShore Drive, The Ellen Show Blog, and Black America Web (Tom Joyner). Known chiefly as a poet, Green’s ability to weave stories with such passion and lyrical creativity captivates audiences. He expands his consumers beyond the narrow coffee-house spoken word crowd, creating CDs, videos, books; performing at festivals, rallies, college campuses across the country, selling out major Chicago music venues and even performing center stage at the inauguration of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. ). He co-hosts SoulSpeak, a popular weekly open mic in the south loop of Chicago.
